Disabled Hunters in MD
| LeCompte Wildlife Management Area located in eastern
Dorchester county, MD provides hunting for disabled hunters. It's a 485
acre tract dominated by mature bottomland forest and is open for upland
and forest game hunting with the exception of squirrel hunting which is
strictly prohibited due to it's high population of the Delmarva fox
squirrel (an endangered species). What set's it apart is the 30 acre moist
soil impoundment and 2 ponds that have been set aside. This area has been
designated for use by "wheelchair dependent disabled hunters" for
waterfowl hunting. This area has not been previously hunted and currently
looks very promising for hunters. An accessible parking area, trails and 2
blinds have been created and are available by reservation only. Waterfowl
hunters must have a DNR issued permit to hunt from a vehicle. Waterfowl
hunters must also be "wheelchair dependent".
For waterfowl hunting reservations or information, call the Maryland Wildlife and Heritage Divison regional office at: 410-543-6595. Questions concerning LeCompte WMA should be directed to:
